Erin Kerkhoff and Josie Durr each won individual events as Solon had five automatic state qualifiers at the Class 3A, Region 2 meet on Thursday at Thomas Park Field in Marion.

Kerkhoff won the 400 in a time of 58.81 and Josie Durr cleared 5-2 to win the high jump as Solon finished second in the team standings with 132 points.

Dubuque Wahlert won six relays on its way to the team title with 160 points while Mount Vernon was third with 119.

Freshman Gabbi Bullard earned a trip to the state meet with a runner-up finish in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:07.65 and the Spartans had a pair of runner-up relay finishes.

The Solon sprint medley team of Bryn Hanrahan, Alexis Sands, Taylor Ryan and Kerkhoff, was second in 1:51.52 while the 4×400 team of Cayley Annis, Abby Smith, Kerkhoff and Ryan was second in 4:05.04.

Clippers Eighth at 3A, District 6 Meet

Clear Creek Amana placed eighth at the Class 3A, Region 6 meet on Thursday in Pella.

Ainsley Schrock and Karsyn Stratton each posted individual third place finishes and Clear Creek Amana finished third in the 4×400 relay while putting up 54 points.

Pella rolled to the team title with 201 points while Benton Community was second with 109 and Grinnell was third with 90.

Schrock was third in the discus with a mark of 122-0 while Stratton was third in the long jump with a leap of 15-10 ¾.

The Clear Creek Amana 4×400 team of Stratton, Riley Hennes, Cierra Lacina and Claire Navara was third in a time of 4:16.11.
