The Your Prep Sports Alumni Report is a weekly segment that recognizes the accomplishments of graduates from YPS area schools that are continuing their careers as student athletes at the collegiate level. Alumni News is a way for readers to keep tabs on former area standouts.

Eddie Johnson

Former Solon standout and current Quincy University sophomore linebacker Eddie Johnson was named Great Lakes Valley Conference defensive player of the week following a huge game in a 34-27 win over Lincoln University on Saturday.

Johnson had a team-high 11 tackles, including seven solo stops and a tackle for loss as Quincy improved to 1-2 on the season.

Johnson also returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter that gave the Hawks a 14-13 lead they would never give up.

On the season Johnson ranks second on the team with 31 tackles including 10 solo stops and 3.5 tackles for loss with half a sack.

Johnson also has an interception and a quarterback hurry.

Shelby Kimm

Liberty High graduate and current St. Cloud State senior Shelby Kimm had a team-high 10 kills in a three-set win over Sioux Falls on Saturday.

Kimm added seven digs in the win over the Cougars on Friday as St. Cloud State improved to 8-3 on the season and 2-2 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.

On the season Kimm leads the Huskies with 128 kills and 3.4 kills per set on .263 hitting while ranking second on the team with 138 digs to go with nine blocks.

Emily Henderson

Former Clear Creek Amana standout and current South Dakota Mines freshman Emily Henderson had 28 assists and a career-high 19 digs in a five-set loss to Colorado Christian on Saturday in Lakewood, Colorado.

Henderson led the Hardrockers with 28 assists and added an ace serve in the loss to Colorado Christian.

On the season Henderson has started all 12 matches helping South Dakota Mines to a 9-3 record that includes a 3-1 mark in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.

Henderson has a team-high 294 assists, nine kills and six ace serves and ranks third on the team with 118 digs.
