There is no longer an unbeaten team in Class 3A, Linn-Mar made sure of that on Thursday.
Class 3A No. 12 Linn-Mar scored a pair of goals in the opening 15 minutes and held on for a 2-1 win over second-ranked and previously unbeaten West High in a Mississippi Valley Conference match at Barker Field.
West High dropped to 12-1 on the season and 8-1 in MVC play with the loss while Linn-Mar improved to 8-3 and 7-3 in conference contests with its fifth win in its last six matches.
Abigain Santana scored from 25 yards out in the ninth minute and Piper Carey scored six minutes later to stake the Lions to an early leady they would never give up.
West High pulled to within a goal when Emma Cooper scored off an assist from Leah Rhodes in the 75th minute but despite a 19-8 advantage in shots the Women of Troy could never pull even.
