Alburnett jumped to a 28-0 halftime lead on its way to a 42-14 win over West Branch on Friday in a Class 2A, District 5 contest at the Little Rose Bowl in West Branch.

Alburnett improved to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in District 5 play while West Branch dropped to 1-4 and 0-2 in district games.

Cooper Franklin rushed for 153 yards and a touchdown and Owen Henriksen ran for 124 yards and a score as the Pirates racked up 274 yards on the ground.

Brody Kaestner passed for 124 yards and a touchdown and ran for three scores for Alburnett.

Keaton Gates rushed for 106 yards and two touchdown and had a team-high 7.5 tackles to lead West Branch.

Dillan Schenkel passed for 14 yards and Teddy Bucknell threw for 17 yards for the Bears while Thomas Pedersen caught four passes for 26 yards.

Motley Johnston had seven tackles for West Branch and Sawyer Jeffries had 5.5 tackles with two tackles for loss for the Bears.
