Regina Sophomore McLaughlin Named RVC South Division Player of the Year

Regina begins postseason play on Tuesday evening hosting a Class 2A, Region quarterfinal.
Before Regina starts playoff basketball several Regals were honored for their regular season play.
Regina had four players named to the River Valley Conference South Division team when the league released its postseason honors on Tuesday.
Sophomore guard Addie McLaughlin highlighted the all-division picks for the Regals earning South Division player of the year honors.
Junior Adalee Klein joined McLaughlin on the South Division first team while freshman Jada Wiltz was a South Division second team selection.
Senior Maggie Sueppel earned South Division honorable mention honors.
McLaughlin was a unanimous first-team South Division pick after leading Regina to a 16-5 regular season record that included an 11-3 mark in RVC South Division games.
The 5-foot-5 McLaughlin led Regina with 22.2 points, 6.5 assists, 4.9 steals per game and ranked second on the team with 6.2 rebounds per contest.
McLaughlin shot 48 percent from the floor, including 36 percent from 3-point range, and 71 percent from the free throw line.
Klein earned first-team all-South Division honors after averaging 11.2 points and a team-high 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting 55 percent from the floor.
Wiltz was a second-team all-South Division pick after averaging 10.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game.
West Branch had two players earn all-South Division honors highlighted by senior Kennedy Simpson who was named to the South Division second team.
Simpson averaged a team-high 11.6 points per game and also averaged 4.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 44 percent from the floor including 36 percent from 3-point range.
Junior Ava Burnett earned South Division honorable mention honors for the Bears.
