Liberty High dropped three matches to ranked teams on Tuesday in the championship pool of the Mississippi Valley Conference tournament at Cedar Rapids Xavier.

Class 5A No. 10 Liberty High fell to 4A top-ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier 25-11, 25-9 and 5A seventh-ranked Cedar Falls 25-22, 25-13 and also dropped a match to 3A fourth-ranked Dubuque Wahlert 25-17, 25-21.

Against Cedar Rapids Xavier Lucy Maassen led the Lightning with four kills while Asta Hildebrand and Ashlyn Nordell each added three kills.

Hildebrand had eight assists while Norah Willey had five assists and Edie Miller had a team-high nine digs.
