Cori Mac secured state tournament spots in both the 1,500 and 3,000 to highlight a strong showing for Liberty High at the Class 4A state qualifying meet at Kingston Stadium on Thursday in Cedar Rapids.

Mac finished runner-up in the 1,500 (4:47.21) and the 3,000 (10:15.32) as Liberty High automatically qualified seven entries for the Class 4A state meet next week at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.

Jolie Nordell and Ivy Nuro Gyina both won individual titles for the Lightning and Liberty High finished runner-up in a pair of relays.

Nordell won the shot put with a mark of 36-10 and Nuro Gyina won the 100 hurdles in a time of 15.51.

Alexi Thigpen added a runner-up finish in the long jump (16-6 ¼) to earn an automatic spot at the state meet.

The Liberty High 4×400 relay team of Chelsea VeDepo, Natalie Ramsey, Averie Bilskemper, and Marissa Becker finished runner-up in 4:06.11.

Nuro Gyina, Lucy Maassen, Cindy Eckhardt and Megan Brewer finished runner-up in 1:08.78.
