Volleyball Roundup: Third-Ranked Liberty High Wins Caroline Found Volleyball Extravaganza

Liberty High was dominant on Saturday at the Caroline Found Volleyball Extravaganza at West High going 5-0 without dropping a set on its way to winning the gold bracket title.
Class 5A third-ranked Liberty High defeated four top-10 teams on its way to the title on Saturday including wins over 5A top-ranked Ankeny in the semifinals and ninth-ranked West Des Moines Dowling in the title match.
Liberty High improved to 15-3 on the season with 5-0 performance on Saturday.
The Lightning defeated 3A No. 9 Mount Vernon 21-14, 21-11, Waterloo Columbus 21-12, 21-5 and 4A No. 9 Clear Creek Amana 21-15, 21-16 in pool play.
In the gold bracket semifinals Liberty High avenged a two-set loss to top-ranked Ankeny last weekend with a 25-21, 25-17 win over the Hawks.
Liberty High picked up its second win of the season over No. 9 West Des Moines Dowling with a 25-21, 25-11 victory in the championship match.
Cassidy Hartman led Liberty High with 45 kills, 42 digs and three blocks on the day while Shelby Kimm had 27 kills, 8 ace serves and 35 digs.
Sam Harvey Had 19 kills and seven blocks, Lilah VanScoyoc had 15 kills and four blocks and Asta Hildebrand had 10 kills, 6 ace serves and 47 assists.
Gabbie Schroeder had a team-high 64 digs over the five matches while Mariah Rollins had 60 assists and 26 digs.
5A No. 10 West High went 2-2 at its own tournament, falling to West Des Moines Dowling in the gold bracket semifinals.
The Trojans defeated Clear Creek Amana 21-9, 15-21, 15-8 and Cedar Rapids Washington 21-9, 21-15 in pool play and fell to 5A No. 13 Cedar Rapids 21-14, 7-21, 15-6.
West Des Moines Dowling edged West High 33-31, 25-19 in the gold bracket semifinals.
Clear Creek Amana went 3-2 finishing runner-up to Mount Vernon in the Silver Bracket.
The Clippers went 2-1 in pool play falling to West High and defeating Cedar Rapids Washington 21-17, 21-11 and Cedar Rapids Prairie 21-14, 15-21, 15-7.
Clear Creek Amana defeated 2A No. 9 Dyersville Beckman 25-23, 20-25, 15-11 in the Silver Bracket semifinals before falling to Mount Vernon 25-17, 31-29 in the championship.
