Girls Soccer Roundup: Liberty High Advances to Regional Final For First Time

For the first time in program history Liberty High is headed to a regional final.
Grace Heddens and Bella Gasparoni each scored goals in the opening 15 minutes to lift Liberty High to a 2-0 win over Burlington Notre Dame (11-7) in a Class 2A, Region 8 semifinal on Wednesday in North Liberty.
Liberty High improved to 11-6 on the season with the win and will face sixth-ranked North Scott (12-5) on Friday at 6 p.m. in Eldridge in the regional final.
North Scott defeated Fort Madison 6-0 on Wednesday in the other Region 8 semifinal.
Heddens gave Liberty High the lead with a goal in the 2nd minute and Gasparoni followed with a goal in the 13th minute as Liberty High jumped out quickly.
Junior keeper Sam Harvey and the Liberty High defense did the rest posting the fifth shutout of the season.
