Baseball Roundup: Solon, Liberty High Split Season-opening Doubleheader

Solon and Liberty High split a season-opening doubleheader on Monday in Solon with Liberty High winning the opener 12-1 and Solon taking the nightcap 14-8.
Keian Secrist and TJ Kimm both homered for Liberty High in the opener and three Lightning pitchers limited Solon to just a pair of Blake Timmons singles in a six-inning win.
Ethan O’Donnell earned the victory for Liberty High allowing just one hit and one run in four innings striking out five and walking two.
Shane Alberts and Boyd Skelley each worked a scoreless inning of relief for the Lightning.
Kimm went 2-for-4 with a home run and drove in three runs while Secrist homered, scored twice and drove in two runs to lead the Lightning.
Solon used a 13-run third inning in nightcap to salvage the split behind four strong innings from Drew Turner.
Turner allowed four runs, two earned, on three hits in four innings fanning five and walking three.
Solon hammered out 11 hits in the nightcap led by Cade Chapman who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs.
Timmons was 2-for-5 with a triple and two RBI and Gehrig Turner had two hits, drove in a run and scored twice.
Ian Gates had two hits for Liberty High in game two while Skelley, Secrist and Kimm each had a hit and scored two runs.
