Solon Blanks Williamsburg 42-0

In a matchup of ranked teams, Class 3A top-ranked Solon shut out rival Williamsburg 42-0 on Friday at Spartan Field.
The Raiders put a scare into the Spartans early.
On Solon’s first possession, the Raiders forced a fumble and recovered on the Spartan 49-yard line.
The Raiders pushed it all the way down to the 1-yard line, but the Solon defense held strong and kept the Raiders out of the end zone.
That was as close as the Raiders would get all night.
From there, it was all Solon.
On the ensuing drive, senior quarterback Maddox Kelley led the Spartans on a 9 play, 91-yard drive capped off by a 4-yard touchdown pass to Cody Milliman to put the Spartans up 7-0.
The Spartans held Williamsburg to a quick 3-and-out and after a short punt, took over deep in Raider territory on the 29 yard line.
Five plays later, Kelley found Kaden Hoeper for a 25-yard touchdown pass.
Kelley and Hoeper would connect for three scores on the night.
Just before halftime, Foster Owens picked up a bad snap and took it in for a touchdown, putting Solon up 28-0 at halftime.
The third Kelley-to Hoeper touchdown pass at the 7:57 mark of the 3rd quarter would start the continuous clock.
Ian Cronk added an interception in the 4th quarter to seal the shutout for the Spartans.
