West High qualified nine wrestlers for the state meet on its way to winning the team title at the Class 3A, District 2 meet on Saturday in Bettendorf.

Six Trojans won individual titles as West High racked up 209.5 team points to finish four in front of runner-up Pleasant Valley.

Host Bettendorf was third with 184.5 points.

Diego Robertty, Hugo Hughes, Alexander Pierce, Owin Koethe, Blest Woods and Campbell Janis all won individual titles for West High while Charles Barnhouse and Kaden Stitt advanced to the state tournament with runner-up finishes.

Ashten Holmes finished third to secure a spot at the state meet.

Robertty (35-1) won the 113-pound title with a 16-1 tech fall over Liam Dunlay of Pleasant Valley in the championship match.

Hughes (33-12) followed with a title at 120 pounds, going 3-0 at the District 2 meet capped by a 13-4 major decision over No. 10 Liam Fitzgibbon of Pleasant Valley in the championship match.

Top-ranked Pierce (45-0) remained unbeaten on the season with a pair of wins on Saturday, claiming the 126-pound title with a 21-3 tech fall of No. 10 Elliott Gnewuch of Cedar Rapids Xavier in the title match.

Koethe (38-13) posted three consecutive pins en route to the 144-pound title, including a second-period pin of Teddy Swanson of Pleasant Valley in the championship match.

Woods (33-8) added a title at 157 pounds with a pin of seventh-ranked Greyson Willett of Pleasant Valley in the championship match and Janis (35-10) won the 165-pound title with 6-3 decision over eighth-ranked Shannon Hughes of Bettendorf in sudden victory in the championship.

Barnouse (15-9) was runner-up at 138 pounds falling to second-ranked Cody Trevino of Bettendorf in the championship match.

Stitt (37-6) dropped a 4-2 decision to fifth-ranked Cary Cox of Pleasant Valley in the 285-pound title match.

Holmes (22-24) placed third at 215 pounds to earn a spot at the state meet.
