Clear Creek Amana qualified five wrestlers for the state meet next week on Saturday at the Class 3A, District 7 meet at Marshalltown.

Sophomores Nolan Dao and Wyatt Iburg each earned spots at the state meet next week at the Casey’s Center in Des Moines with top-two finishes on Saturday.

Dao won the 165-pound title while Iburg finished runner-up at 113 pounds to help Clear Creek Amana to a third-place team finish with 128 points.

Dao (32-6) posted back-to-back pins on his way to the 165-pound title.

The sophomore pinned Kobe Sindt of Cedar Rapids Washington in 1:14 in the semifinals and needed 2:44 to pin No. 10 Kinnick Thompson of Johnston in the championship.

Iburg (34-13) advanced to the 113-pound championship with a 4-2 decision over Nicholas Million of Marshalltown.

Second-ranked Jack Wallukait of West Des Moines Dowling pinned Iburg in 2:09 in the championship match.

Freshman Tytus Steapp, Brody Schrock and Aidan Schrock all finished third on Saturday to secure spots at the state meet.

Steapp (29-17) was third at 120 pounds, Brody Schrock (23-20) was third at 157 pounds and Aidan Schrock (36-14) was third at 190 pounds to earn spots at the 3A state meet.
