Liberty High crowned a pair of champions and qualified five wrestlers for the state meet at the Class 3A, District 3 meet on Saturday in Cedar Falls.

Connor McGonegle and Landon Bell won individual titles and Konstantinos Panos and Benjamin Rosen each secured spots at the state meet with runner-up finishes as Liberty High placed third in the team standings with 126.5 points.

Finn O’Toole finished third to qualifying for the state meet.

McGonegle (20-4) went 2-0 on his way to the 106-pound title, posting a 3-1 decision over Dawson Wardlow of Waverly-Shell Rock in the title match.

Bell (8-0) won the 175-pound title with an 8-2 decision over eighth-ranked Eli Forcier of Waverly-Shell Rock in the championship match.

Panos (21-11) finished runner-up at 113 pounds and Rosen (17-11) was runner-up at 120 pounds to secure spots at the 3A state meet next week at the Casey’s Center in Des Moines.

Panos was pinned by Chase Miller of Cedar Falls in the 113-pound title match and Rosen was pinned by third-ranked Kipton Lewis of Waverly-Shell Rock in the 120-pound championship match.

O’Toole (10-22) secured a spot at the state meet with a third-place finish at 157 pounds.
