Solon had two champions and qualified seven wrestlers for the state meet in a runner-up team finish at the Class 2A, District 2 meet on Saturday at Benton Community High School in Van Horne.

Anderson Osgood and Lucas Feuerbach each won individual titles as Solon finished runner-up to Wilton with 171 points.

Evan Gleason, Jayden Steapp, Carson Kidwell, Teague Williams and Kyler Jensen all secured spots at the Class 2A state meet next week at the Casey’s Center in Des Moines with runner-up finishes on Saturday.

Osgood (42-3) won the 106-pound title with a second-period pin of Dawson Kaska of Wilton.

Feuerbach (42-3) claimed the 285-pound crown by pinning No. 11 Regan Roberts of Knoxville in 12 seconds in the championship match.

In between those two titles the Spartans had five wrestlers punch tickets to state with runner-up finishes.

Gleason (14-18) pinned Jonathan Guthrie of Nevada in a wrestleback at 113 pounds to secure a runner-up finish at 113 pounds.

Steapp (36-15) finished runner-up at 126 pounds falling to fifth-ranked Mason Shirk of Wilton in the championship match.

Kidwell (36-14) was runner-up at 157 pounds dropping a 7-1 decision to Gavin Gerbracht of Dike-New Hartford in the title match while Williams (31-15) was runner-up at 165 pounds.

Jensen (18-11) was runner-up at 215 pounds falling to second-ranked Gatlin Rogers of Wilton in the championship match.
