Both Liberty High and West High climbed into the Iowa Girls High School Volleyball rankings following strong starts to the season.

West High moved up two spots to sixth in the second edition of the IGHSAU rankings released on Thursday while Liberty High jumped five spots to seventh in the 5A rankings.

Liberty High is off to a 4-1 start that includes wins over ninth-ranked Cedar Falls and eighth-ranked West Des Moines Dowling.

West High has started the season 8-1 with wins over 5A No. 11 Bettendorf and Class 4A third-ranked North Scott.

City High (1-3) dropped three spots to No. 14 in the Class 5A rankings.

Clear Creek Amana and Regina each held their spots in the second rankings.

Regina (6-1) remained fourth in the Class 2A rankings while Clear Creek Amana (6-1) is number one in the Class 4A rankings for the second week in a row.

Other top-ranked teams this week include Waukee Northwest in Class 5A, Western Christian in Class 3A, Denver in Class 2A and Fort Madison Holy Trinity in Class 1A.
