WATERLOO – Solon sophomore Ryder Laing finished in 10^th place at the Class 3A state golf meet to help the Spartans to a 10^th place team finish on Wednesday at Gates Park Golf Course in Waterloo.

Laing shot a one-over-par 73 on his final round on Wednesday to finish with a 36-hole total of 149 to earn a top-10 finish.

After opening state meet competition with a three-over 76 on Tuesday Laing closed with a two-under-par 34 on the back nine on Wednesday to end his final round one over.

Laing eagled the par-five 10^th hole for the second consecutive day on Wednesday and added two birdies to go along with a pair of bogeys on his final nine holes.

Solon shot a 320 as a team on Wednesday to finish with a two-day total of 632.

Ballard fired a state meet-low 301 on Wednesday on its way to winning the team title by two strokes over runner-up MOC-Floyd Valley with a two-day score of 610.

North Polk was third with a 615.

Tyler Greazel shot a 157 to finish in a tie for 32^nd for Solon after shooting an 81 on Wednesday and teammate Owen Heesch shot an 83 on Wednesday to finish with a 36-hole total of 161.

Grant Gordon shot an 83 on Wednesday and finished with a 169 and Kobe Ridout shot an 88 on Wednesday to close with a two-day score of 170.

Nick Stahle shot a 179 for the Spartans.
