Class 3A fifth-ranked Mount Vernon built an 11-point halftime lead and held on for a 42-34 win over 4A No. 12 Solon on Tuesday in a WAMAC East Division contest in Solon.
Mount Vernon improved to 6-2 on the season with its fourth consecutive win while Solon had a three-game winning streak snapped with the loss and dropped to 3-2 on the season.
Tenley Levin had a game-high 14 points to lead Solon while Laney Johnson had seven points and Delainey Durr added six points.
Savanna Wright had 12 points and Lucy Wischmeyer had eight for Mount Vernon.
