Regina Senior Naeve Named to IGCA Elite All-State Team

Reese Naeve led Regina to one of the best seasons in school history this fall with one of the best individual seasons for a player in program history.
On Monday Naeve was recognized as one of the best players in the state.
Naeve earned Class 2A first-team all-state honors and was named to the Iowa Girls Coaches Association’s eight-member elite team that recognizes the top players across all five classes when the organization released its postseason honors on Monday.
An Iowa State signee, Naeve led the state in kills for the second consecutive season this fall, hammering 730 kills while leading Regina to a 30-14 record and the first back-to-back state tournament appearances in program history.
Naeve had 192 more kills than any player in the state this season while hitting .334 and adding 505 digs, 40 blocks and 36 ace serves.
Joining Naeve on the Class 2A all-state teams were Regina juniors Addison Bollier and Nora Wilhelm.
Bollier was a second team selection in Class 2A while Wilhelm was named to the 2A third team.
Wilhelm ranked third in the state with 1,061 assists this season while Bollier led the state with 794 digs from her libero spot.
Clear Creek Amana had four players earn all-state honors in Class 4A after posting a 42-4 record and advancing to the state semifinals.
Seniors Averie Lower and Emily Henderson led the list of Clear Creek Amana all-state picks earning first-team honors in Class 4A.
Lower led the Clippers with 344 kills on .285 hitting and added 296 digs, 50 blocks and 28 ace serves.
Henderson had a team-high 1,012 assists to go with 92 kills on .433 hitting 249 digs, 26 blocks and 14 ace serves.
Junior Bailey Simpson earned second team honors in Class 4A after ranking second on the team with 298 kills on .379 hitting and leading the Clippers with 101 blocks.
Sophomore Julia Schlarbaum was a third-team pick in 4A following a breakthrough season in which she had 264 kills on .288 hitting and added 283 digs and a team-high 72 ace serves.
Class 5A state qualifier West High had a pair of all-state picks highlighted by junior Sophia Austen who was named to the 5A first team.
An Iowa State commit, Austen had 285 kills on .217 hitting and added 318 digs, 36 blocks and a team-high 34 ace serves while helping West High to the state tournament for the first time since 2016.
Teammate Lila Eastvold was named to the 5A third team after leading the Trojans with X assists City High junior Hattie Galloway and Liberty High junior Edie Miller were each named to the Class 5A second team.
Galloway led City High with 270 kills on .321 hitting and 73 blocks and also had 107 digs and 19 ace serves.
A Dayton commit, Miller led Liberty High with 480 digs and ranked second on the team with 34 ace serves.
Solon seniors Kiley Devery and Kennedey Whitford each earned third team honors in Class 4A.
A Fresno State recruit, Devery had a team-high 338 kills on .272 hitting and 56 blocks and 104 digs.
Whitford led Solon with 446 digs and had a team-leading 51 ace serves.
