No. 10 Wilton Pulls Away From West Branch in Second Half

Wilton forced three second-half turnovers and scored 22 unanswered second-half points in a 30-7 win over seventh-ranked West Branch in a Class 2A second-round showdown at the Little Rose Bowl in West Branch.
No. 10 Wilton improved to 8-2 on the season and advanced to the 2A quarterfinals where it will travel to second-ranked PCM (9-1) next Friday.
PCM defeated Pella Christian 45-31 in the second round on Friday.
West Branch had a four-game winning streak snapped with the loss and closed the season 7-3.
Wilton limited West Branch to 107 yards of total offense and forced four turnovers limiting the Bears to a season-low seven points.
Keaton Gates rushed for 33 yards and Cooper Gates rushed for 13 yards for West Branch while Brennen Dale passed for 63 yards.
Nolan Staker had four receptions for 23 yards and Brandon Pedersen had three catches for 24 yards.
Staker had 3.5 tackles including one for loss, recovered a fumble and returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown while averaging 44.8 yards per punt on five punts.
Conner Capper had a team-high 9.5 tackles while Michael Montgomery had 7.5 tackles with two for loss and a sack.
Spencer Green had 6.5 tackles and a tackle for loss and Dale had 5.5 tackles.
