The Your Prep Sports Alumni Report is a weekly segment that recognizes the accomplishments of graduates from YPS area schools that are continuing their careers as student athletes at the collegiate level. Alumni News is a way for readers to keep tabs on former area standouts.
Bliss Beck
Former Clear Creek Amana standout and current Drake sophomore Bliss Beck had 18 kills to help the Bulldogs to a pair of Missouri Valley Conference road wins over the weekend.
Beck had eight kills and added three blocks in a three-set sweep at Illinois State on Friday and had a season-high 10 kills and two blocks in a five-set win over Bradley on Saturday.
On the season Beck ranks fourth on the team with 102 kills and leads the Bulldogs with a .306 hitting percentage
Beck also has a team-high 77 blocks this season while helping the Bulldogs to a 9-10 record that includes a 5-3 mark in Missouri Valley Conference play.
Tae Shon McDaniels
City High graduate and current Pittsburg State junior defensive lineman Tae Shon McDaniels had a sack to help the Gorillas to a 44-20 win at Missouri Western on Saturday in St. Joeseph, Missouri.
McDaniels had a sack among his two tackles on Saturday as Pittsburg State improved to 6-2 on the season with its sixth consecutive win.
On the season the 6-foot-3, 275-pound McDaniels has 12 tackles and is tied for the team lead with 5.5 tackles for loss including two sacks.
Kaleab Wendy
West High graduate and current Wartburg sophomore Kaleab Wendy had an assist to help the Knights to a 1-0 win over Loras on Saturday.
Wendy and Liberty High graduate Flori Gembo assisted on the game-winning goal in the 1-0 win over Loras as Wartburg improved to 6-61 on the season and 4-1 in American Rivers Conference matches.
On the season Wendy rans third on the team with three goals and is third on the team with two assists.
