Boys Cross Country Roundup: Meskimen Finishes Runner-up, Clippers Third at WAMAC Conference Meet

Carson Meskimen finished runner-up to lead Clear Creek Amana to a third-place team finish at the WAMAC Conference Meet on Thursday at Seminole Valley Park in Cedar Rapids.
Meskimen finished runner-up in a time of 15:59..4 just off the winning pace of 15:49.1 of Mount Vernon-Lisbon senior Dawson Scheil.
The runner-up finish by Meskimen highlighted four top-25 finishes for Clear Creek Amana as the Clippers finished third with 89 points.
Mount Vernon-Lisbon won the team title with 34 points followed by Grinnell with 64.
Vinton-Shellsburg was fourth with 128 points and Solon was fifth with 141.
Mason Miller joined Meskimen in the top-15 placing 15th in a time of 17:09.4.
Micah Johnson placed 22nd in 17:27.9, Kyle Vogel was 24th in 17:34.9 and Jackson VanHorn placed 26th in a time of 17:38.3 for the Clippers.
Solon had a pair of top-20 finishers in seniors Spencer Michels and Rene Meza.
Michels placed 17th in 17:12.7 and Meza finished 20th in 17:20.5.
Sophomore Anders Holmes placed 30th in 17:45.6 for the Spartans and Charlie Pettit was 36th in 18:06.6.
