West Branch made its season debut in the in the Iowa High School Athletic Association football rankings entering the Class 2A rankings at No. 10 in the third set of rankings this season released on Monday afternoon.

The rankings for Class 2A, 1A, A and eight-player are determined throughout the 2025 regular season by official rankings committees for each class.

The Bears are 5-2 on the season with losses to Class 1A third-ranked Regina (7-0) and Class 2A eighth-ranked Alburnett (5-2) and is coming off a 23-3 win over Anamosa on Friday.

West Branch travels to Class 2A fourth-ranked Bellevue (7-0) for its regular season finale on Friday.

Regina was third in the Class 1A rankings for the third consecutive week.

Regina (7-0) remained third in Class 1A behind top-ranked West Lyon (7-0) and second-ranked Grundy Center (7-0) for the third week in a row.

South Hardin (6-1) and Treynor (6-1) round out the Class 1A top five.

Other top-ranked teams in the first rankings of the season are Carroll Kuemper (7-0) in Class 2A, MMCRU (7-0) in Class A and Algona Garrigan (7-0) in 8-player.
