City High finished third in the team standings at the Spartan Girls Invitational on Thursday evening at Pleasant Valley high school in Bettendorf.

Host Pleasant Valley won the team title with 178.5 points followed by Waukee with 137 points and City High with 102.5 points.

Bettendorf was fourth with 82.5 and Urbandale was fifth with 69.5.

City High had a trio of individuals post runner-up finishes on Thursday.

Abigail Burns was runner-up in the 400 in a time of 1:00.1 while Nina Peterson was runner-up in the 3,000 in 10:31.74.

Nina Peterson also added a fourth-place finish in the 1,500 in 5:14.3 while Nicole Peterson was third in the 3,000 in 10:32.4 and sixth in the 1,500 in 5:15.77.

Rachel Haack posted top-three finishes in both throwing events finishing runner-up in the shot put with a mark of 40-10 ½ and third in the discus with a distance of 130-6.

City High finished third in the 4×200, 4×400 and 4×800 relays.
