Class 5A eighth-ranked Liberty High downed West Des Moines Valley 61-44 in a 5A, Region 8 semifinal on Saturday in North Liberty.

Liberty High improved to 16-6 on the season with the win and advanced to the Region 8 title game where it will host ninth-ranked City High (16-7) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

West Des Moines Valley closed the season 7-16.

Natalie Ramsey led Liberty High with 34 points, nine rebounds, five steals and three assists.

Madeline Casey added 14 points for the Lightning while Ava Casey had four points and three assists.

Natalie Schechinger had three points and three assists and Janessa Mosley had three points, three assists and two rebounds.
