What a night for City High girls wrestling.

City High won a pair of individual titles, qualified a program-record four wrestlers for the state tournament, finished runner-up in the teams standings and did it all in front of its home fans.

Hosting a regional for the first time City High took advantage of the home arena advantage sending four wrestlers to the state meet on Friday at a Class 2A regional meet in Iowa City.

Juniors Molly Carlson and Shaona Emmanuel each won individual titles as City High racked up 146 teams points to finish runner-up to team champion Burlington.

Freshmen Amelia Terrill and Izzy Brown each posted runner-up finishes on Friday to secure spots at the 2A state tournament scheduled for February 6-7 at Xtream Arena in Coralville.

Carlson won the 170-pound title to become the first three-time state qualifier in City High history.

Carlson (29-8) pinned her way to the 170-pound crown.

After back-to-back first-period pins that required a total of a minute and 36 seconds Carlson pinned North Scott senior Madison Andrews (7-8) in 2:33 in the title match.

Emmanuel (32-5) secured her first ever trip to state with an equally impressive performance on her way to the 155-pound title.

Emmanuel won the title with back-to-back first-period pins including a 25 second pin of Burlington freshman Amaziah Twillie in the championship match.

Terrill (15-21) finished runner-up at 110 pounds and Brown (15-9) was runner-up at 145 pounds to secure state tournament spots.

Brown posted back-to-back pins to reach the 145-pound championship where she was pinned by North Scott senior Maddie Rose (34-6).

Terrill also consecutive pins to reach the title match where she was pinned by third-ranked Taylor Strief (22-2) of Bettendorf.
