CCA Junior Lower Headlines Area All-State Selections From Iowa Girls Coaches Association

Earlier this month some of the best prep volleyball players in the state performed on the state’s biggest stage at the state tournament at Xtream Arena in Coralville.
On Monday several Your Prep Sports area athletes were honored for helping their teams reach that stage.
Clear Creek Amana juniors Averie Lower and Emily Henderson and Regina junior Reese Naeve highlighted six area players to earn all-state honors from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association when the organization released its postseason awards on Monday.
Lower earned all-state honors for the second consecutive season after leading Clear Creek Amana to a 37-8 record and a third straight state tournament appearance.
A third-team all-state pick a year ago, Lower was named to the Class 4A first team this season after leading the Clippers in kills (410) and digs (334) while ranking fourth on the team in ace serves (34) and blocks (32).
Henderson earned all-state honors for the first time landing on the Class 4A third-team following a breakthrough season in which she led Clear Creek Amana with 928 assists to go with 96 kills.
The 5-foot-8 Henderson also had a team-high 44 ace serves and ranked third on the team with 48 blocks.
Naeve earned all-state honors for the third straight season after a stellar season in which she led the state in kills while leading Regina to its first state tournament appearance since 2017.
An Iowa State recruit, Naeve continued to climb the 2A all-state teams landing on the second team this season after earning honorable mention honors as a freshman and third-team honors a year ago.
Naeve had a state-best 753 kills on .320 hitting and ranked second on the team with 398 digs to help Regina to a 24-15 record and a spot at the 2A state tournament.
Liberty High had a pair of all-state picks in Class 5A in senior Asta Hildebrand and sophomore libero Edie Miller.
Hildebrand earned all-state honors for the third consecutive season and was selected to the 5A second team for the second year in a row.
A St. Cloud State signee, Hildebrand led Liberty High with 299 kills on .247 hitting and ranked second on the team with 291 assists and 258 digs.
Miller earned third-team all-state honors in Class 5A for the second consecutive season.
The 5-foot-6 Miller led Class 5A in digs for the second year in a row finishing with 550 digs to go with a team-high 32 ace serves.
Over the past two seasons Miller has accumulated 1,153 digs.
Solon senior Grace Erwin was named to the Class 3A third team for the second year in a row.
Erwin led Solon in kills (204) hitting efficiency (.437) and blocks (93) and added 24 ace serves while helping the Spartans to a 28-14 record.
