Liberty High Senior Mayer Commits to Iowa Central

Liberty High senior Brayden Mayer became the latest area prep baseball player to settle on his college destination when the two-way standout announced his commitment with a post on social media.
Mayer committed to Iowa Central Community College on Wednesday with a post on X.
“I’m very excited and blessed to announce my commitment to Iowa Central,” Mayer wrote on X. “Thank you to all the coaches, teammates and people that have helped me along my path.”
Mayer batted .254 with six extra-base hits including a pair of home runs and 19 RBI in 67 at bats last season while helping the Lightning to a 25-14 record and a spot in a Class 4A substate title game.
The right-handed throwing Mayer also went 3-2 on the mound while ranking third on the team with 27 1/3 innings pitched.
Mayer posted a 1.79 ERA and .91 WHIP while striking out 23 and holding opposing batters to a .146 batting average in 27 1/3 innings.
Iowa Central was 46-13 last season.
