Natalie Ramsey was one of the breakout stars of the 2023-2024 basketball season.
The Liberty High standout will enter her junior season as one of the top returning players in Class 5A and now as a college commit.
Ramsey announced her commitment to South Dakota on Thursday with a post on social media.
“I am excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and basketball careers at the University of South Dakota,” Ramsey wrote on X. “I want to thank god for blessing me with this opportunity. I would also like to thank my family, coaches, teammates and friends for all of their support.”
In her first full season of varsity action Ramsey led Liberty High in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocked shots last season.
The 6-foot Ramsey averaged 14.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game last season as a sophomore on her way to being named to the Mississippi Valley Conference all-Mississippi Division first team.
Ramsey shot 50 percent from the field last season, including 37 percent from beyond the 3-point line, and 80 percent from the free throw line while leading the Lightning in both free throw makes (71) and attempts (89).
Ramsey scored in double figures in 16 of 20 games last season including 15 of the final 17 games helping Liberty High to an 11-9 record.
A member of the Summit League, South Dakota went 23-13 last season and advanced to the round of 16 in the WNIT.
