Your Prep Sports Area Alumni Report: CCA Graduate Plathe Earns Award; Fiderlein and Kimm With Strong Starts to the Season

Eva Plathe
Clear Creek Amana graduate and current Cornell College freshman Eva Plathe was named Midwest Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Performer of the week after an impressive debut outing against Mount Mary.
Plathe had four goals and attempting an impressive 13 shots in an 11-0 season-opening win for the Rams.
The freshman midfielder had three goals in the second half of the 11-0 win. Cornell College is 1-2 on the season.
Cael Fiderlein
Former West Branch standout and current Central College senior linebacker Cael Fiderlein had a team-high nine tackles in a season-opening 49-14 win over Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday in Pella.
The 5-11, 220-pound Fiderlein had five solo stops among his team-high nine tackles and also broke up a pass in the 49-14 win.
Fiderlein ranked second on the team in tackles last season as a junior making 54 stops in 10 games.
Shelby Kimm
Liberty High graduate and current St. Cloud State sophomore Shelby Kimm helped the Huskies win three straight games over ranked teams at the Yotes Classic Showdown in San Bernardino, California including a four-set win over top-ranked and defending national champion Call State LA.
Kimm had seven kills, three blocks and an ace serve in the win over Cal State LA that capped a strong week in California for St. Cloud State.
Kimm had six kills and eight digs in a loss to No. 21 Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday.
She had five kills in a win over No. 12 Chaminade (Hawaii) and eight kills and six digs in a win over eighth-ranked Cal State San Bernardino on Friday.
