Big Second Quarter Dooms West Branch in 27-0 Loss At Dike-New Hartford

West Branch played Dike-New Hartford even for three quarters on Friday night.

Dike-New Hartford scored 27 second-quarter points on its way to a 27-0 win over West Branch on Friday in a non-district contest in Dike.
West Branch dropped to 0-2 with the loss while Dike-New Hartford improved to 1-1.
The Wolverines scored four touchdowns in a span of less than eight minutes in the second quarter to break open a scoreless game.
Jaiden Soppe started the scoring when he caught a 5-yard slant from Colin Meester for a touchdown with 9:42 remaining in the first half.
Noah Borcherding scored on a 4-yard run, Carson Costello caught a 26-yard touchdown pass from Meester and Meester ran 19 yards for a score all in the second quarter.
Dike-New Hartford finished with a 354-187 advantage in total yardage thanks to 207 passing yards from Meester.
Brennen Dale threw for 45 yards and rushed for 15 yards and Connor Rios passed for 58 yards, ran for 18 yards and caught three passes for 28 yards for West Branch.
Cooper Gates ran for a team-high 36 yards for the Bears and had seven tackles including a tackle for loss.
Lincoln Naber had a team-high eight tackles and blocked an extra point for West Branch while Conner Capper had two tackles for loss among his five tackles.
West Branch hosts Waterloo Columbus (0-2) on Friday at 7 p.m.
