Liberty High’s Barney, West High’s Tate Highlight Area MVC All-Division Selections

It was a historic season for the Liberty High girls basketball program.
Liberty High set a program record for wins, earned a share of a Mississippi Valley Conference divisional title for the first time and reached its first regional final.
On Wednesday the Lightning were rewarded for their team success in the form of individual accolades.
Liberty High had five players earn MVC all-divisional honors when the conference released its postseason awards.
Senior guard Jasmine Barney highlighted the list of Lightning players to earn all-division honors, being selected as a unanimous first-team selection in the Mississippi Division.
Barney led the Lightning in scoring with 15.7 points per game and also led the Lightning in assists (2.5) and steals (2.6).
Sophomore guard Madeline Casey and senior forward Ava Meyer were each named to the Mississippi Division second team.
Casey averaged 8.3 points per game and led the Lightning with 48 made 3-pointers.
Meyer averaged 5.8 points and led Liberty High with 6.4 rebounds and .9 blocked shots per game.
Seniors Avery Gaudet and Kennedy Daugherty each earned honorable mention honors in the Mississippi Division and Jamie Brandt was named Mississippi Division coach of the year after leading the Lightning to a 14-8 record.
West High senior Meena Tate headlined four Trojans to earn all-division honors and was a unanimous first-team pick in the Valley Division.
Tate led the Trojans in scoring at 14.7 points per game and also averaged 3.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.
Senior Anna Prouty was a second-team all-Valley pick after averaging 9.6 points and a team-high 8.9 rebounds per game while shooting 54 percent from the floor.
Junior Melae’ Lacy and freshman Grace Fincham were both honorable mention honorees in the Valley Division.
City High sophomore August Palmer was named to the Valley Division first team after leading the Little Hawks with 18.5 points per game.
Palmer also averaged 4.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
Sophomore Emmy McComas and freshman Tessa Driscoll were each named to the Valley Division honorable mention team.
