Jack Kinzer
Liberty High graduate and current Wartburg sophomore Jack Kinzer was one of four Knight cross country runners to earn United State Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-academic athlete honors last week.
Kinzer was among 320 runners from 119 different institutions named All-academic athletes in the 2022 season.
To qualify for All-academic honors athletes much have a GPA of at least 3.3 and finish in the top 25 percent at their regional championship meet.
Ashley Joens
City High graduate and current Iowa State senior Ashley Joens was named Big 12 Player of the Week for the second time this season and 12th time in her career on Monday.
Joens had 19 points and 14 rebounds in a win at TCU on Wednesday and had 32 points, seven rebounds and three assists in a win over Oklahoma on Saturday.
On the season Joens is averaging 20.2 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.
Lauren Zacharias
Former West High standout and current Wayne State senior guard Lauren Zacharias led the Wildcats in scoring twice last week.
Zacharias had a team-high 12 points in a loss at No. 10 Minnesota Duluth on Friday and tied for the team lead with 16 points in a loss to St. Cloud State on Saturday.
On the season Zacharias is leading Wayne State in scoring at 15.9 points per game to go with 4.7 rebounds and a team-best 2.9 assists per game.
