Liberty High Has Three Players Named to 4A IPSWA All-State Team After Historic Season

A historic regular season for Liberty High turned into a historic postseason for the Lightning.
Now the Lightning are enjoying a historic offseason.
Liberty High had the best season in program history this fall setting a school record with nine wins while winning a district title for the first time.
The Lightning won its first ever postseason game with a 24-14 victory over Webster City in the first home playoff game in school history.
On Tuesday the Lightning had a historic all-state haul with three players being named to the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association Class 4A all-state squad.
Juniors Graham Beckman and Dantrell Skinner and senior Garrett Gregoire all earned all-state honors for the first time after helping Liberty High to a 9-2 record.
The three Liberty High players join Clear Creek Amana senior linebacker Brock Sherman as Your Prep Sports area players on the 4A all-state second team.
Beckman was a second-team pick at quarterback following an incredible debut season in which he ranked second in Class 4A in passing yards, passing touchdowns and total touchdowns.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Beckman completed 63 percent of his passes while throwing for 2,580 yards and 31 touchdowns with just four interceptions.
Beckman also rushed for 320 yards and four touchdowns.
Gregoire emerged as the top target for Beckman on his way to being named to the 4A second team as a wide receiver.
The 5-foot-8, 160-pound Gregoire led the Lightning with 43 receptions, 832 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.
Gregoire also had 38 tackles and recovered two fumbles as a safety.
Junior Dantrell Skinner was a second-team selection as a defensive lineman.
The 6-foot-0, 235-pound Skinner ranked fifth on the team in tackles from his defensive line spot and led the Lightning with nine tackles for loss and had a sack.
Skinner also scored a pair of rushing touchdowns.
Sherman earned all-state honors for the first time after a stellar senior season in which he led the Clippers in tackles.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Sherman had 79.5 tackles including a team-high 12.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
