Grant Kruse has enjoyed a strong senior season as a three-sport athlete at Clear Creek Amana.
Last week Kruse announced he will focus on basketball at the collegiate level.
Kruse announced his commitment to Central College to play basketball last week with a post on social media.
“First off I want to say thanks to God and my family,” Kruse wrote on Twitter. “I also want to thank my coaches and teammates that have pushed me along the way to not only become a better athlete but a better person,” Kruse wrote on Twitter. “I would not be in the same position today without them. That being said I’m excited to announce my commitment to play basketball at Central College.”
Kruse made his mark in his one season in the Clear Creek Amana starting lineup.
The 6-foot-1 guard ranked in the top four on the team in points, rebounds, assists and steals while helping guide the Clippers to a 17-6 record this season.
Kruse averaged 9.9 points and a team-high 2.5 assists per game as a senior to go with 4.2 rebound and 1.5 steals per game.
He shot 48 percent from the field including 38 percent from beyond the three-point line and was a 72 percent free throw shooter as a senior.
A defensive back and place kicker for the Clear Creek Amana football team in the fall Kruse converted 6-of-9 field goal attempts, recovered two fumbles and picked off a pass to help the Clippers reach the 4A postseason.
Kruse is also a starter on the Clipper soccer team and has five assists and two goals this season.
