Girls Track and Field Roundup: Solon Dominates En Route to Second Straight WAMAC Title

For the second straight season Solon claimed the WAMAC Conference track and field title.
And for the second year in a row the Spartans did so in emphatic fashion.
Solon won nine events, had two athletes score in all but one individual event and posted top-two finishes in 14 of 19 events while rolling to the team title at the WAMAC Conference meet at Dyersville Beckman High School.
The Spartans finished with 180 points to double up runner-up Williamsburg while Mount Vernon was third with 83 and Clear Creek Amana finished fourth for the second year in a row with 76 points.
Solon had three athletes combine for four individual titles and had three individual runner-up finishes on Thursday.
The Spartans also claimed five relay titles and finished in the top three in all seven relays.
Freshman Aly Stahle won the 100 in 12.88 and added a title in the 200 in 25.98 to lead the Spartan individual efforts.
Emma Bock won the 400 in 58.26 and teammate Gracie Federspiel was runner-up in 59.07.
Kayla Young added a title in the 3,000 in a time of 10:59 for the Spartans who also got runner-up finishes from Sophia Stahle in the 400 hurdles, Makinley Levin in the long jump and Kaia Holtkamp in the high jump.
Solon was at its most dominant in the relays.
Mia Stahle, Makinley Levin, Sophia Stahle and Bock won the sprint medley relay in 1:50.27 and Levin, Aly Stahle, Mia Duckett and Emma Wolff won the 4×100 in 49.66.
Makinley Levin, Callie Levin, Duckett and Aly Stahle won the 4×200 in a time of 1:46.84 and the Solon foursome of Meghan O’Neill, Holtkamp, Federspiel and Bock won the 4×400 in 4:04.8.
O’Neill, Federspiel, Anna Quillin and Holtkamp also won a title in the 3,200 in 9:51.98.
Solon was runner-up in the shuttle hurdle relay and third in the sprint medley.
Clear Creek Amana had its own strong showing led by its winning shuttle hurdle relay team.
Emma Mathis, Meghan Cullen, Mari Cetta and Silvana Kabolo won the shuttle hurdle title in 1:07.27.
Kabolo added runner-up finish in the 100 hurdles in a time of 15.89 and the Clear Creek Amana distance medley team of Prisca Kalala, Bailey Olerich, Bliss Beck and Kiera Rogers was runner-up in 4:31.29.
