Girls Soccer Roundup: Austin’s Game-winner Lifts CCA Past Regina in Top-10 Thriller

Clear Creek Amana scored three second-half goals, twice rallying from one-goal deficits to down Class 1A fifth-ranked Regina in a top-10 non-conference matchup on Monday in Tiffin.
Lauren Riggle twice answered Grace Gaarde goals to even the score before Class 2A eighth-ranked Clear Creek Amana took its only lead of the match on the game-winning goal by Ellen Austin with 10 minutes left.
Clear Creek Amana improved to 7-0 with the win while Regina dropped to 4-2 on the season.
Working with the win at its back Regina took a 1-0 lead into the half after Gaarde scored the first of her two goals on a penalty kick.
Clear Creek Amana answered quickly on a goal by Riggle four minutes into the second half.
Gaarde struck again off an Emma Sueppel assist to put Regina up 2-1 but Riggle answered for the second time with her team-leading 13th goal of the season.
Austin provided the game winner with her fourth goal of the year with 10 minutes left.
Clear Creek Amana is back in action on Tuesday hosting Independence while Regina travels to Cedar Rapids Washington on Friday.
