Boys Track Roundup: Brinkman Sweeps Throwing Events at RVC

Jared Brinkman swept the throwing events and Regina won the sprint medley relay on its way to a fourth-place team finish at the River Valley Conference meet on Thursday at Bellevue.
Cascade won the team title with 109 points while Mid-Prairie was second with 96 and Northeast was third with 81.
West Branch finished 12th with 20 points.
Brinkman won the discus with a career-best toss of 162-10 ½ and set a new meet record in the shot put with a winning throw of 59-3 to lead the Regals.
The Regina team of Michael Conlon, Brady Bigley, Jack Jensen and Jayden Kies won the sprint medley in 1:36.42.
Regina added a third place finishes in the distance medley and 4×100 relays and Nathan Meyer was third in the 3,200 in 10:15.53.
Cooper Kabela placed fourth in the 110 hurdles to lead West Branch while he Bears’ 4×800 team was third.

Throwers Lead Solon at WAMAC Meet
Tyler Linderbaum and Jackson Walker each logged third-place finishes in the throwing events to lead Solon at the WAMAC meet on Thursday at Western Dubuque High School in Epworth.
Linderbaum was third in the shot put with a mark of 53-6 while Walker was third in the discus with a toss of 155-0 as Solon placed 11th with 22 points.
Western Dubuque won the team title with 134.5 points while Mount Vernon was second with 104 followed by Marion with 96.
Clear Creek Amana finished third in the shuttle hurdle relay and fourth in the 4×800 on its way to a 10th place team finish with 24 points.
Seb Johanson placed fifth in the long jump for Clear Creek Amana and Nick O’Connor was sixth in the 3,200.
