West High took control of the Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division race on Tuesday.

The Trojans looked every bit like a conference champion caliber team while doing it.

Class 5A sixth-ranked West High remained unbeaten in MVC Valley Division play with a 25-23, 25-21, 25-14 sweep of 4A fourth-ranked Western Dubuque on Tuesday in Iowa City.

West High improved to 13-4 on the season and 4-0 in Valley Division play while Western Dubuque dropped to 15-3 and 4-1 in divisional matches.

Cyan Blommer had a match-high 17 kills and three blocks to lead West High while Sophia Austen added 11 kills for the Trojans.

Taylor Otte had six kills and two blocks, Josephine Austen had five kills and two blocks and Olivia Headings had two kills and three blocks for West High.

Izzie McDonald had a team-high 17 digs while Sophia Austen added 12 digs and three ace serves.

Lila Eastvold had 36 assists and six digs for the Trojans.

Kyla Ramler had 14 kills, Ellie Berning had 10 kills and Lauren Walker had eight kills for Western Dubuque.
