West High Sophomore Wilson Third After Opening Round at 4A State Golf Meet

For the second consecutive season Ainsley Wilson enters the final day of the season in the state title hunt.
The West High sophomore shot a two-over-par 72 on Thursday on the opening day for the Class 4A state golf meet at Waverly Municipal Golf Course in Waverly.
Wilson is tied with Camille Wood of Pleasant Valley in third place in the 4A individual standings after the first day of the two-day, 36-hole event.
Cedar Rapids Prairie’s Kylie Wachtl shot a two-under-par 68 on Thursday and leads the 4A standings followed by Adalyn Wiig of Waukee Northwest who opened with a 71.
Wilson shot a 33 on the front nine on Thursday and carded a 39 on the back nine to finish with a 72.
Pleasant Valley leads the 4A team standings after shooting a 303 on Thursday while Waukee Northwest is second with a 310.
