West Branch crowned four district champions and qualified six wrestlers for the Class 1A state meet in a runner-up team finish at the Class 1A, District 12 meet on Saturday at Wilton High School.

Ethan Humphrey, Logan Christoffel, Cash Hatfield and Cooper Gates all won titles for the Bears while Keaton Gates and Tate Frantz secured state tournament spots with runner-up finish as West Branch racked up 144 points.

Regina had two champions and qualified three wrestlers for the 1A state meet scheduled for February 19-22 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

Fifth-ranked Ethan Humphrey (19-2) started the title run for West Branch by winning the 106-pound title with a 16-0 tech fall win over Romann Derksen (40-9) of Wilton.

Christoffel (37-12) won the 132-pound title with a 9-1 major decision over Tyler Pierson of Highland in the championship match.

Seventh-ranked Hatfield (27-2) won the 144-pound title with a 11-2 major decision over Gunner Klahn of Durant and eighth-ranked Cooper Gates (35-4) won a 7-1 decision over No. 11 Owen Milder (33-4) of Wilton in the 1265-pound championship match.

Frantz (35-8) finished runner-up at 190 pounds and Keaton Gates (36-18) was runner-up at 150 pounds for the Bears.

Will Aitchison and Leren Fernandez each won individual titles for Regina and Porter Shetler qualified for the state meet with a runner-up finish.

Aitchison (29-4) went 3-0 on his way to the 157-pound title, pinning Hayden Hill of Wilton in 5:05 in the championship match.

Fernandez (39-7) won the 175-pound championship with a second-period pin of Clay Ledger of Wilton.

Shetler (35-11) finished runner-up at 215-pounds going 2-1 with a pin.
