In her third and final appearance at the state golf meet Bella Pettersen came up with her best state meet performance.

Pettersen shot her second consecutive one-under-par round of 70 on Friday to finish runner-up at the Class 4A state golf meet at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny.

The Liberty High senior finished third at the state meet as a freshman and sophomore before capping a brilliant prep career with her runner-up finish on Friday.

Pettersen finished three strokes behind Linn-Mar junior Morgan Rupp who shot the low round of the tournament on Friday with a four-under 67 to claim the individual title with a 36-hole score of 137.

Rupp and Pettersen were tied atop the 4A leaderboard after Thursday’s opening round.

Pettersen had four birdies on Friday but carded a seven on the par-four seventh and couldn’t keep up with Rupp.

A Northern Iowa recruit, Pettersen finished two strokes clear of third-place Saleah Vivanh Vong of Des Moines East/North.

Pleasant Valley shot a 312 on Friday to claim its second consecutive 4A team title with a two-day score of 627 while Waukee Northwest and Cedar Rapids Washington each shot 634.
