The Your Prep Sports Alumni Report is a weekly segment that recognizes the accomplishments of graduates from YPS area schools that are continuing their careers as student athletes at the collegiate level. Alumni News is a way for readers to keep tabs on former area standouts.
Hailey Hested
Liberty High graduate and current Mount Mercy junior setter Hailey Hested earned first team all-conference honors from the Heart of America Conference.
Hested earned first-team all-Heart of America honors for the second straight season after handing out a single-season career best 1,026 assists in 29 matches, averaging 9.9 assists per set.
The 5-foot-7 Hested had 31 ace serves, 39 kills and 283 digs for the Mustangs this season.
Mackenzie Murphy
Former City High standout and current Mount Mercy senior Mackenzie Murphy earned all-Heart of America Conference honors for the third time after landing on the all-conference first team for the first time following a stellar season in which she led the Mustangs in kills and ace serves and was second with 350 digs.
Murphy helped Mount Mercy to a 22-7 record leading the team with 354 kills, 3.37 kills per set, and 51 ace serves and was second on the team with 350 digs.
The senior outside hitter became just the fifth player in program history to reach 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career and also set the school record for career ace serves.
Masen Miller
Regina graduate and current Indiana State junior Masen Miller had a season-best 15 points in a 103-88 win over Rice on Tuesday in the first game of the Ball Dawgs Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Miller played a season-high 23 minutes in the win and went 5-of-7 from 3-point range while also handing out two assists.
On the season Miller is averaging 4.2 points per game while helping the Sycamores to a 5-1 start.
