Softball Roundup: Liberty High Splits Doubleheader With Waukee

Liberty High split a non-conference doubleheader with Waukee on Tuesday in Waukee winning the opener 8-6 and dropping the nightcap 5-2.
The Lightning moved to 11-9 on the season with the split while Waukee is now 5-14 on the year.
Ella Wetjen earned the win in game one allowing five runs, four earned, on seven hits while striking out four and walking three in 4 1/3 innings.
McKenna Kelley worked the final 2 2/3 innings allowing one run on two hits for the Lightning.
Haileigh Smith led the Liberty High offense going 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI while Mischa Reiners and Ava Tague each had two hits and drove in two runs.
Delaney Ball had a hit and drove in two runs while Brynlee Slockett and Haley Schroeder each had a hit and scored a run.
Kennedy Daugherty scored twice for the Lightning.
Daugherty took the loss in the nightcap allowing five runs on eight hits while striking out eight and walking five.
Slockett had a double and drove in a run and Ella Kate Fort doubled for Liberty High in game two.
Schroeder went 2-for-3 with two runs scored in the nightcap while Kelsey Kaut drove in a run.
