Miller, Nelson and Bruck Headline Area IAHSSCA All-State Selections

A trio of high scoring forwards highlight the Your Prep Sports area athletes named to the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association all-state teams that were released on Monday.
West High junior Michael Nelson, Solon senior and Dillon Bruck and West Branch senior Peyton Miller all earned all-state honors after stellar seasons in which they ranked in the top 10 in the state in goals scored.
Bruck, Nelson and Miller headline a group of nine Your Prep Sports area players to earn all-state honors from the IAHSSCA.
Nelson was a second-team selection in Class 3A after setting a West High single-season record with 36 goals.
The 36 goals for Nelson were third most in the state this season and helped West High to an 18-3 record and a sixth consecutive appearance at the Class 3A state tournament.
Senior goalkeeper Nicholas McDonnell joined Nelson on the 3A all-state team earning honorable mention honors.
McDonnell made 61 saves while allowing just 11 goals this season.
Liberty High had a pair of players earn all-state honors after the most successful season in program history that included a 15-4 record and a berth in a 3A substate final.
Senior keeper Jaxyn Logan was named to the Class 3A second team while senior Joslin Gembo was an honorable mention pick.
Logan made 62 saves while allowing seven goals while Gembo ranked third on the team with 10 goals and led the Lightning with eight assists.
City High senior defender Aaron Rutherford earned honorable mention status in Class 3A.
Bruck and senior William Wittich were each named to the Class 2A all-state squad after leading Solon to a 16-3 record and a spot in a 2A substate final.
Bruck set a single-season school record with 35 goals which tied for the fifth most in the state this season and ranked second in Class 2A on his way to being named to the 2A second team.
Wittich was an honorable mention selection in Class 2A after ranking second on the team with 13 goals and leading the Spartans with 10 assists.
Miller was named to the Class 1A first team after another stellar season in which he ranked seventh in the state with 34 goals.
Miller added a team-high 11 assists this season while being named a first-team all-state pick in Class 1A.
Senior Gage Gingerich was an honorable mention selection in Class 1A after ranking second on the team with seven assists and third with 11 goals.
