Liberty High Sophomore Pettersen, West High Senior Pacha Secure Spots at Class 4A State Tournament

A year ago Isabella Pettersen capped a stellar debut season with a third-place finish at the Class 4A state tournament.
On Wednesday the Liberty High sophomore secured a return trip to state.
Pettersen fired a two-under-par 70 on Wednesday to win the individual title by eight strokes at the Class 4A, Region 4 Meet at Irv Warren Golf Course in Waterloo.
The 70 by Pettersen was eight strokes better than Molly Ratchford of Cedar Falls who joined Cedar Rapids Washington freshman Jane Petersen who finished with a 79 as the only golfers to break 80 on Wednesday.
Liberty High finished fourth in the team standings while Western Dubuque won the team title and Cedar Falls earned a spot at the state tournament with a runner-up finish.
West High senior Leigha Pacha shot an 81 to finish in fifth-place and secure a spot at the state tournament.
Pettersen and Pacha will compete at the Class 4A state tournament May 26-27 at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny.
