Solon Has Eight Players Named to WAMAC East Division Teams

Solon won 29 games, finished second overall in the WAMAC conference, spent a majority of the season as a ranked team and came a win away from a trip to the state tournament.
On Thursday the Spartans began raking in the individual awards for its team success.
The Spartans had eight players earn all-divisional honors when the WAMAC Conference announced its postseason baseball awards on Thursday.
Solon had three players earn first-team honors in the East Division after posting a 20-4 conference record while finishing two games back of East Division champion Marion.
Junior Kinnick Pusteoska was a unanimous first-team utility pick and joined freshman infielder Brett White and senior outfielder Ben Cusick on the East Division first team.
Pusteoska hit .404 and led the Spartans with a .731 slugging percentage, finishing with 14 doubles, six home runs and 51 RBI while drawing 23 walks on his way to a 1.257 OPS.
White batted .356 while leading the Spartans with 18 doubles and 23 extra-base hits to go with a team-high 56 RBI.
Cusick hit .382 with three doubles and 21 RBI and scored 26 runs.
Senior pitcher Brayden Rickertsen, sophomore infielder Blake Timmons and senior infielder Brady Jeworrek were all named to the East Division second team.
Timmons led the Spartans with a .431 batting average and 59 runs and had 17 extra-base hits, 27 RBI and a team-leading 29 walks and .582 on-base percentage.
Jeworrek hit .312, scored 40 runs and drove in 33 runs while Rickertsen went 4-2 with a 4.08 ERA and struck out 49 in a team-leading 46 1/3 innings.
Senior Drew Turner and freshman Gehrig Turner were both honorable mention honorees for Solon.
Clear Creek Amana senior Brock Reade was a first-team selection as a pitcher in the West Division.
Reade posted a 2.16 ERA and struck out 54 in 32 1/3 innings while holding opponents to a .229 batting average.
Junior Parker Smith was a second team pick as an infielder while junior Sam Young was a second team utility selection.
Smith hit .407 with 30 runs scored and 12 RBI and 13 walks while Young batted .327 with 31 runs and 21 RBI and led the Clippers with 20 walks.
Sophomores Josh Loren and Reece Hoffman were both honorable mention selections for Clear Creek Amana.
