A couple of solid early season performances are proving to be just the start for the Liberty High boys track team.

Liberty High put together another impressive performance on Thursday winning five events and adding three runner-up finishes while winning the team title at the Demon Relays at Case Field in Washington.

The Lightning won the team title with 147 points while Mount Pleasant was second with 133 and Washington was third with 128.

Luke Meyers won a pair of individual titles in the sprints and Bowen Gryp and Jack Kinzer each posted impressive times in individual wins to lead the Lightning.

Meyers swept the short sprints, winning the 100 in a time of 11.33 and took the 200 in 23.1.

Gryp turned in the fastest 800 time in the state this spring at 1:55.36 while Kinzer won the 1,600 with a top-eight time in the state at 4:25.01.

Liberty High added a title in the shuttle hurdle relay with the team of Beau Miller, Maxwell Thompson, Daqwan Sander and Griffin Kraft winning in 1:04.88.

Caleb Schillinger was runner-up in the 800, Maddux Johnson was second in the 3,200 and the Liberty High sprint medley relay team of Wyatt Williams, Ben O’Connor, Brody Fishman and Gavin Keeney was runner-up in1:40.2.
