Boys Cross Country Roundup: Solon Edges Second-ranked Marion for Team Title at Lynx Invitational

As the cross country postseason approaches Solon continues to prove it plans on being a player at the state meet later this month.
Class 3A fourth-ranked Solon edged second-ranked Marion by two points to win the 39th Annual Lynx Invitational on Saturday morning at North Linn High School in Coggon.
Solon had four runners in the top seven and finished with 45 points to edge Marion by two points for the team title.
Class 2A second-ranked Tipton was third with 94 followed by 2A No. 6 Williamsburg with 145.
The title for the Spartans comes after Solon finished just a couple points behind 3A third-ranked Pella twice over the last several weeks.
Junior Gabe Hinman led a trio of top-10 finishers for the Spartans placing fourth in 16:30.6 while senior Tyler Bilskie was right behind in fifth place in a time of 16:38.5.
Freshman Brick Kabela was seventh in a time of 16:52.1 while fellow freshman Michael Yeomans finished 13th in 17:00.9.
Regina placed 11th at the 16-team meet with 278 points and was led by Dan Maley who placed 36th in a time of 18:01.4.
