For the first time since 2006, City High is the Mississippi Valley Conference champs.
City High secured the MVC Valley Division title with a doubleheader sweep of Cedar Rapids Kennedy (14-20, 10-15) on Friday at Mercer Park.
Class 4A sixth-ranked City High won the opener 14-4 in six innings and took the nightcap 6-2 to improve to 27-10 on the season, 19-6 in MVC play and secure the outright Valley Division crown.
Brett McCleary picked up the win in the opener allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits while striking out six as the Little Hawks clinched at least a share of the division title.
City High hammered out 18 hits in the game one win, as seven Little Hawks posted multi-hit performances.
Zach Stone led the way going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBI while Travis Reyhons had two hits and drove in three.
Dylan Deshler, Levi Pugh and McCleary all had two hits and drove in two runs while Dillon Africa, Cole Milder each had a pair of hits and scored twice.
City High got the title all to themselves in game two as Bryce Frantz held Kennedy to six hits and two runs in six innings while fanning eight.
Deshler had two hits scored a run and drive in a run while Caleb Sass went 2-for-3 and scored twice.
Joey Schnoebelen drove in a pair of runs and Reyhons had a hit, an RBI and scored a run.
City High will close conference play with a makeup game at Dubuque Wahlert on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Petrakis Park in Dubuque.

West High Wins Third Straight MVC Divisional Crown
West High is best in the Mississippi Valley Conference again.
Class 4A third-ranked West High secured its third straight MVC division title, and second straight outright crown, with a doubleheader split at Waterloo West on Friday.
West High (29-8) dropped the opener 11-10 but secured the MVC Mississippi Division title with a 13-1 win in the nightcap.
The Trojans finished 20-6 in MVC play, their sixth straight season with 20 or more conference wins.
West High has now won at least a share of a division title in six of the last seven seasons and claimed five outright titles during that stretch.
Waterloo West scored 11 runs in the fifth and sixth innings combined to rally from a 9-0 deficit in a stunning 11-10 win in game one.
West High out-hit Waterloo West 17-8 but West High committed five errors in its first MVC loss in 12 games.
Nate Disterhoft, Tony Comellas and Connor McCaffery all had three hits for West High.
McCaffery had a home run and a double among his three hits and drove in three runs and scored twice.
Izaya Ono-Fullard had two hits, scored twice and drove in three runs while Comellas drove in a run and Disterhoft scored twice.
Lucas Karwal added two hits and an RBI in the game one loss.
McCaffery went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double and two RBI in a 13-hit West High performance in game two.
Karwal had a pair of hits and scored twice and Disterhoft had two hits including a double and drove in two runs.
Logan Sims drove in three runs, Teagen Bell drove in two while Dane Randall doubled, drove in a run and scored a run.
Braden Houston earned the win allowing one unearned run on two hits while striking out seven without a walk.

Schlotman Helps CCA Split With Benton Community
A night after having its school-record nine-game winning streak end Kobey Schlotman made sure that loss didn’t turn into the start of a different kind of streak on Friday.
Schlotman tossed a six-hitter as Clear Creek Amana edged Benton Community 2-1 in the opening game of a WAMAC West Division doubleheader in Tiffin.
Clear Creek Amana (17-19) won the opener when Camden Armstrong scored on a Sam Stevens two-out, walk-off single in the seventh inning.
Benton (14-24) salvaged a split with an 11-4 win in the nightcap.
Schlotman outdueled Benton Community starter Spencer Touro in the opener to improve to 7-1 on the season.
The senior left-hander struck out eight and didn’t walk a batter, allowing one run on six hits.
Touro allowed two runs, one earned on six hits in 6 2/3 innings, striking out 11 and walking two.
Cody Ogden and Stevens each went 1-for-3 with an RBI to lead Clear Creek Amana at the plate while Armstrong and David Jensen each scored runs.
Ogden took the loss in the nightcap allowing eight runs on six hits in three innings.
Benton Community used an eight-run second inning to take control and Clear Creek Amana was never able to recover.
TJ Bollers had a pair of hits in the nightcap while Tyler Hallett had a hit and drove in two runs while Schlotman had a hit, scored a run and drove in a run.
